LALITPUR, April 11: Local representatives of Khokana have urged the government to provide appropriate compensation while acquiring the land for the construction of Kathmandu-Tarai Fast track. Participating in an interaction program organized by Nepal Army at Khokana, the locals have demanded the government to take strong steps for the conservation of the historic area.

They drew attention of Defense Minister Ishwar Pokarel, who visited the area to discuss over the issues of the area for the construction of the expressway, citing that the existence of the historic town will be in high risk while implementing the ambitious projects of outer ring road, smart city, Bagmati corridor and 133 kV transmission among others.
Speaking at the program, lawmaker Pampha Bhusal said that the government should take initiation for the issues raised by the locals while carrying out the government projects. Responding to the demands, Minister Pokharel assured that government is serious about the demands put forward by the locals and will take suitable decision after holding discussion with the stakeholders.
