Locals hold prayers to prevent elephant rampage

BHADRAPUR, Feb 1: Locals have resorted to offer prayers to Lord Ganesh so as to prevent elephants from entering into the village following the rise in wild beast rampage.



Offering worship to Lord Ganesh started at the main entry point of elephant at Damak of Jhapa from Tuesday with due religious procedures. [break]



Bhutanese refugees offered prayers at the entry point in Humsedumse forest in the northern part of Bhutanese refugee camp Beldangi-2 with a view to preventing incidents of elephant attack.



Three priests had performed worships to Lord Ganesh by chanting verses.



Present during the worships were secretary of camp management committee DB Subba, assistant secretary Manmaya Rai, APF Superintendant of Police, Bujendra Rimal and representative of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), informed former secretary of the camp Devraj Pradhan.
