KATHMANDU, Aug 20: The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has given pace to the formulation and implementation of laws and policies to systematize the foreign employment, migrant workers' problems and society security. 


Making public the progress of the Ministry in the six months of this government on Sunday, the Ministry informed that it amended some laws while issued the Labour Regulation 2074, aiming at protecting the rights of the labourers. Even a directive was brought into effect to scrutinize the demand forms for the control of the fraud and exploitation in the foreign employment. 


A draft bill on employment has been presented before the Council of Ministers, and the process initiated to amend the Foreign Employment Act 2064 and the Regulation.

Moreover, a draft of the regulation for the implementation of Contribution-based Social Security Act (2074) was prepared, the Ministry shared. 


The Ministry is for the strict implementation of the payment of salary and incentives through banks to the workers of all kinds of institutes. 


During this period, national perspective on elimination of child labour 2075 was approved and no child labour in brick kiln was announced with the cooperation of Brick Kiln Federation. 


Moreover, efforts were on to set up foreign employment help desk and foreign employment information centre at Tribhuvan International Airport. 


International standard of health check up before leaving for overseas jobs will be determined soon in coordination with Health Ministry.  RSS
