KATHMANDU, Aug 31: The second Kathmandu Dribbble Meetup will be held on September 4 in Moksh Restaurant and Bar in Jhamsikhel, Patan.
Dribbble is a popular online community for designers, illustrators and photographers to promote their work online and network with other users. Throughout the world, Dribbble enthusiasts organize local community based ‘Dribbble Meetups’ that bring together individuals to interact and network in real life. Since last year, Namaste Kathmandu has been organizing the Kathmandu Dribbble Meetup.
Amit Bajracharya, the co-founder of Namaste Kathmandu, got the idea to introduce the inaugural Kathmandu Dribbble Meetup couple of months after the 2015 Nepal Earthquake.
“At that time many events were targeted at earthquake related activities. I wanted to break out of that mould and organize something different for our community of IT professionals. So I applied for a local Dribbble Meetup in Kathmandu,” Amit said to Republica.
2015’s Dribbble Meetup attracted around 140 individuals who attended sessions on designing, marketing and branding. However, Amit believes that the first event had too many lectures and masterclass sessions that enough space wasn’t given to face to face networking session. “This year we have restricted the formal presentations to three, so that the rest of the event can become a free flowing networking meet,” he said.
The event will feature speakers like Expresiv Studios’ Swapnil Acharya, YoungInnovation’s Anjan Shrestha and social entrepreneur Anil Chitrakar. The event will conclude with network building games and interactive sessions designed for participants to socialize.
