A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday decided to appoint Gautam to the post. An MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, Gautam has 14 years of experience in the field of journalism. He has worked at both Nepali and English language dailies and for radio and television stations. [break]
He started his journalism career from vernacular dailies, including the Rajdhani, and briefly worked with the Nepal 1 Television. He then joined Kantipur Television, where he covered the legal beat.
After six years of work in Kantipur Television, he joined print media again. He worked with Kantipur Daily and Republica English Daily. He is currently working with BBC World Service (Nepali service) in Kathmandu.
He has won a number of awards for his excellent reporting on legal issues and exposing corruption and malpractices of the government officials and political leaders.
