Industries in Sunsari-Morang Industrial Corridor incur loss of Rs 2.5 billion in recent floods

Published the preliminary details of the damage caused by the flood, the Industry Association, Morang, said that 41 industries in the Sunsari-Morang Industrial Corridor suffered a loss of Rs 2.471 billion.

BIRATNAGAR, Nov 1: The floods that hit the Sunsari-Morang Industrial Corridor from October 18 to October 20 have caused a loss of Rs 2.5 billion. Published the preliminary details of the damage caused by the flood, the Industry Association, Morang, said that 41 industries in the Sunsari-Morang Industrial Corridor suffered a loss of Rs 2.471 billion.


The Industry Association, Morang, has made public the study report stating that Rs 981.718 million loss was incurred in machine tools, Rs 712.57 million loss in raw materials and Rs 764.05 million loss in finished goods.

Similarly, a loss of Rs. 17.1 million was incurred in sanitation and waste management. The daily administrative expenditure of 41 industries is Rs 50 million. Of the flood-affected industries, 27 came into operation a week later and seven industries are set to come in operation in the next two weeks.


“It will take another four weeks for three industries to come into operation and more than four weeks for four industries to come into operation,” said Chudamani Bhattarai, Director General of Industries Association Morang.
