KATHMANDU, March 31: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) organized a protest on Monday demanding the release of Senior Vice Chairman Rabindra Mishra, General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana and others.

The police arrested Mishra and Rana on charges of their involvement in the Tinkune unrest on March 28. However, the RPP is protesting, claiming that the police arrested their leaders and activists on false charges.

On March 28, pro-monarchy protesters carried out arson and looting in the Tinkune-Koteshwor-Jadibuti area, resulting in two deaths and injuries to scores of protesters and police personnel.

RPP insists that the party only morally supported the protest called by Durga Prasai. Authorities have accused Mishra and Rana of inciting the crowd during the protest.
