UDAYAPUR, Sept 19: New district police chief, SP Ramesh Thapa has said that high-level information technology will be used to reduce the existing criminal activities in Udayapur. SP Thapa, who arrived to take over the security command of Udayapur district, recently held a press conference and made this commitment.

Saying that there is a lot of misuse of high technology in the current criminal cases, he said that he has made a plan to use the highest level of technology to control it. "The use of technology has become essential to deal with criminal groups, so we have also made a crime control plan using technology," said Thapa.

He said that such a plan had been adopted with the conclusion that new and latest technology should be used to improve police operations, clean up the organization and reduce all kinds of crime.

SP Thapa said that Udayapur police has already regularized the service through mobile apps and QR codes, adding that with this technology, it is possible to mobilize the police immediately and get information about all kinds of incidents. Similarly, SP Thapa said that through the QR code, records of the activities conducted in all the units across the district can be maintained and facilitated according to the suggestions received from the service users.

He also said that a technology has been developed to detect all units and branch operations of the police in the district through QR codes and if there is delay or non-cooperation from any branch or individual, it will be mentioned. With this technology, the service-seekers can file a complaint without mentioning their name and they don't have to fear that there could be a problem for them in the future.

SP Thapa said, "If it is found that the police have been deliberately lax, uncooperative and inciting, departmental action will be taken against them."

He said that awareness programs will be conducted to maintain law and order in the district, spread of drugs, horrific suicide problem, social disorder, child marriage and crimes like online fraud.

SP Thapa has identified the crimes and said that he will proceed by partnering with the local people's representatives and other concerned persons and organizations to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

Stating that taking legal action against the criminals is not the final solution, he said that if there is room for improvement before then, he will work towards improvement according to the suggestions and advice of all parties. Apart from that, he plans to run a partnership program with the citizens of the district while keeping the police service strong along with maintaining peace and security.

In the program, Information Officer DSP Harinandan Chaudhary promised that information about the activities and incident details of the police offices would be systematically distributed to the media in a timely manner.
