KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The hearing on the writ petition against the government's decision to ban the social media platform Tik Tok at the Supreme Court (SC) did not take place today.
The hearing by a joint bench of justices Sushma Lata Mathema and Binod Sharma on the case has been deferred. The justices were unable to preside over the case due to other pending cases.
On November 21, the SC ordered the government to submit a written clarification on the decision to ban Tiktok. A single bench of Justice Binod Sharma issued a show cause order on Tik Tok ban after conducting a preliminary hearing.

The hearing on the case will take place tomorrow.
The government decided to ban Tik Tok on November 13, citing damage to social harmony. Accordingly, the Nepal Telecommunication Authority issued a notice and announced that Tik Tok had been banned.
More than 10 writ petitions have been registered at the SC, questioning the government ban on Tik Tok.
The petitioners have claimed that the ban has violated the fundamental rights of the citizens.
