KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Residents and tourists along the Budhigandaki River in Gorkha’s Chumnubri Rural Municipality moved to safer ground after water levels rose sharply on Sunday morning.
Water flows increased in Ugyulung and Syarkhola in wards 6 and 7 of the rural municipality. Locals said repeated blockages and releases of water had heightened the risk. They reported flood damage in Salleri Bazaar, with Jagat Bazaar also affected.
