KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The Nepali Congress has urged the government to step up rescue efforts following the damage caused by a sudden flood in the Budhigandaki River.
In a statement issued by Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal, the party urged residents in downstream areas to remain safe and its members to join rescue operations while prioritizing their own safety.

Party President Gagan Kumar Thapa also drew the government’s attention to the disaster caused by the flood.
Thapa urged party members returning from the party’s general convention to travel safely and called on members near the flood-affected areas along the Budhigandaki River to immediately join rescue efforts.
