KALIKOT, Nov 25: A health camp related to disability identification has been run in Kalikot. A two-day health camp was conducted in Narharinath Rural Municipality of Kalikot district to screen children under the age of 18 for physical disabilities.
Organized by Narharinath Rural Municipality with financial support from Plan International Nepal, in partnership with Social Awareness and Development Association (SADA Nepal), with technical support and facilitation from District Health Service Office Kalikot and Yogi Narharinath Hospital, a health camp related to disability identification of children under the age of 18 was held in the local unit.

According to Dal Singh Kumal, project coordinator of SADA Nepal, of the three hundred and eight children examined in the camp, 26 were identified as having some kind of disability.
He added that necessary materials and medicines have been distributed to those identified with disabilities, and disability identity cards will also be issued to 26 identified children through the Municipal Disability Committee.
Chairman of the rural municipality Nagendra Bahadur Bista said that the local government will give high priority to the necessary budget and programs to ensure regular access to school for such girls.
Chairman Bista said that targeted programs will be implemented to ensure the rights and security of the disabled and to establish their access to all areas of development and integrate them into the national mainstream. He also expressed his commitment to organize positive dissemination of the laws and regulations to ensure the rights of women and girls with disabilities, and committed that the local government will conduct health camps at the school level from time to time in the coming days.
