KALIKOT, Aug 13: Kalikot-Jumla road section of Karnali highway has been blocked due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in the Chaukhola area of Kalikot district.
District Police Office, Kaliakot’s Information Officer, Poshan Thapa, reported that the road has been completely blocked following a landslide with boulders near the house area in Chaukhola, Khadachakra-10, Kalikot.
Narayanghat-Mugling road section blocked again
"Landslide debris in other areas where bulldozers could be used have been cleared," he said. "However, in Chaukhola, the landslide with boulders has created a situation where blasting may be necessary."
Chief District Officer Ganesh Nepali said that the landslide has blocked the Karnali Highway since early Monday morning. He mentioned that the road will only be cleared as coordination has been made with the Nepal Army to blast the boulders.
Krishna Bahadur Shah from Jumla reported that they are currently stranded on the road after a landslide with large boulders occurred in Chaukhola, Kalikot. The Road Division Office Jumla, stated that although an excavator (JCB) was sent to remove the landslide on the highway, the work could not proceed due to the size of the boulders.
The road remains blocked, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded even today. The landslide has completely covered a section of the road, and vehicles are stranded on both sides of the road.
