Hamro Nepali Party stakes claim to Bagmati’s chief ministership

KATHMANDU, March 17: Hamro Nepali Party has staked its claim to the position of Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.

The party's meeting held yesterday and today decided not to be in favor or against any party or coalition, said the party’s Spokesperson Iih (Rohan) Karki.

In the statement issued by him, it is said, "Hamro Nepali Party is ready to lead the government of Bagmati Province to maintain the democratic system and the trust of the people."

There are 110 members in the Bagmati Province Assembly. The support of 56 province assembly members is required to form the government in the province. However, the new alliance has only 55 members including 27 from UML, 21 from Maoist Center and seven from CPN (Unified Socialist).

It has been disclosed that the Hamro Nepali Party was offered the posts of two ministers to ensure the continuity of the current Shalikram Jamkatel-led government in Bagmati Province.
