BAITADI, Sept 15: The risk of scrub typhus has increased in recent days in the district. The risk of the disease has increased after scrub typhus infection was found in people coming to the hospital and health facilities seeking treatment.
Scrub typhus has been detected in some patients visiting the District Hospital as well, said Harish Panta, information officer for the hospital. He said the number of scrub typhus patients has increased in the district this year although it was detected sporadically last year.
Number of scrub typhus cases reaches 45 in Baitadi
According to him, the scrub typhus infection has been found in 22 persons since the start of the monsoon season from mid-July. The infection is found in patients coming from almost all local units of the district.
Moreover, Panta said it has been detected in more people coming from the Dasharath Chand Municipality and the Dogadakedar Rural Municipality.
However, mostly patients suffering from viral fever have been coming to the hospital seeking treatment. Dr Basanta Raj Joshi, chief of the District Hospital, shared that among 100 patients coming to the hospital daily, 50 are found suffering from viral fever.
