Talking to local media at Nepalgunj airport on Sunday, Dahal said that the current problem will end immediately after the constitution amendment bill to address UDMF demands is passed from parliament.
Dahal, addressing the press meet organized by Revolutionary Journalists Association of Banke, expressed confidence that he will bring UDMF into agreement to end the current impasse.
The UDMF has almost agreed on the issue of proportionate inclusion and delimitation of constituencies based on geography and population, according to him. The two amendment bills have already been registered and they will be passed within some days, Dahal informed.
“We believe that passing of the amendment bills will boost confidence of all the oppressed communities as well,” he added. He also expressed his belief that agitating UDMF will also stop protests as the front is close to striking a deal with the government.
The country's new constitution has provisioned separate clusters for Tharus and Muslims, which cannot be altered at any cost, according to Dahal.
As a result of diplomatic initiatives and political negotiations at various levels, and international community's efforts, the blockade has been relaxed, he claimed.
