KATHAMANDU, March 6: ‘Swachha Sanskriti, Hamro Sapana; an ethnic concert,’ a Sarangi concert by artists Shyam Nepali and Sarangi Gharana, was held on Saturday at Dwarika Hotel in Battisputali, Kathmandu.

The musical event was organized in collaboration with Heart Beat and Tree Media to support the promotion and sustainability of cultural music with the inclusion of young generation to preserve the nearly extinct tune of Sarangi.

The event was inaugurated with an eco-friendly approach by watering a plant of Godawari flower.  The nature friendly ambience, along with the mellifluous performance of renowed Sarangi artists, from the long survived Gandharva Gharana enthralled the audience.

The Sarangi performances began with reviving the songs and tunes of 1960s ‘Putali ley juni Feryo’, ‘The Fisherman’ and the song ‘Aja Mero Desh Lai’ composed by Shyam Nepali in the remembrance of the victims of peoples’ movement and 2072 earthquake.
