Founding member of Nepal Praja Parishad Shrestha no more

KATHMANDU, July 30: Founding member of Nepal Praja Parishad, the first political party of Nepal, Hari Krishna Shrestha, passed away on Sunday night. He was 94.



Shrestha was a colleague of Gangalal Shrestha, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Shukra Raj Shastri and Dasharath Chand who had been executed by the Rana regime in 1997 BS and are respected as the ´four martyrs´ in Nepal´s history.



The then Rana regime had arrested Shrestha along with his colleagues on the charge of treason and was declared to be hanged along with them. But, he was freed later after serving five year´s jail-term along with Tanka Prasad Acharya and Ram Hari Joshi.



He is survived by two daughters and three sons.

According to the family source, last rites of Shrestha were performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat today.
