Former Home Minister Khand arrested from his residence

KATHMANDU, May 10: Nepali Congress (NC) leader and former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has been arrested in connection with the fake Bhutani refugee scam.

KATHMANDU, May 10: Nepali Congress (NC) leader and former Home Minister  Bal Krishna Khand has been arrested in connection with the fake Bhutani refugee scam.


Khand was arrested from his residence in Chabahil on Wednesday morning, according to a high-ranking police source. Along with Khand, his personal secretary Narendra KC has also been arrested. He was arrested by the police from Jadibuti on Wednesday morning.

He has been arrested on charge of his involvement in the  racket of sending Nepali nationals to the USA in the guise of Bhutanese refugees. 


Earlier, former Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police, Bigyan Raj Sharma had claimed that two people arrested by the police in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugees scam were released under political pressure when Khand was serving as the home minister.


On Sunday, an audio tape was released in which Arzu Rana Deuba and former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand's wife Manju are accused of receiving millions of rupees from the victims of this scam.
