KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The Film Development Board (FDB), Nepal, has issued a warning to viewers who record key scenes from film and upload them on social media asking them to refrain from such actions. Issuing a statement, the board warned that such practice violates the copyright laws with legal provision for punishments.
Currently, movie producers are complaining that the scenes from various films, including ‘Behuli from Meghauli’, have been recorded and posted on social media platforms such as Tik Tok and Instagram reels. The notice stated that the social media-based circulation of key scenes of Nepali films currently being screened in theaters has drawn serious attention of the FDB.

According to the FDB, the investment of the film producers and the hard work involved in the project can suffer losses due to the unauthorized misuse of the key parts of the film. The notice stated that illegally uploading other’s creations and property on various digital media is a legally punishable offense. According to the Copyright Act 2059 and Regulation 2061, the equipment used in such practice will be confiscated, as well as those violators shall pay penalties, fines and compensation.
The FDB urged everyone not to use any kind of video recording material including mobile phones, cameras inside movie theaters. The FDB Chairman Dinesh DC said that the FDB has issued a correspondence along with a directive to the movie theater operators under FDB’s umbrella organization ‘Nepal Motion Picture Association’ due to the rise in complaints about audiences recording films with their mobile phones.
