KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has warned of stringent action against those posting anyone's photo and video in social networking sites (SNS) without consent.

Issuing a press statement, the ministry said action would be taken against anyone involved in such activities as per the existing laws. Such a warning was made in response to the complaints filed at the ministry that videos were made secretly on people's banter in public places and posted in social media, thereby harassing the people physically and mentally.

The rude banter made in public places not only causes mental stress on victims but also foments conflict and disturbs peace and harmony in society. Individual privacy is breached and reputation damaged by such an act, the MoHA said in the statement.
