Far western people celebrate Bishu festival

KATHMANDU, April 13: The people originally from the far western region and currently living in the capital city celebrated the Bishu festival here Wednesday.

They marked the Bishu festival as the New Year 2073 organizing cultural programmes. The programmes were organized by the Far Western Folk Culture Forum Nepal. The people exchanged New Year greetings and performed cultural pageants.Dances as bho nach, chhaliya nritya, anjali nritya, jhyaure nritya, and the popular deuda songs were performed on the occasion.

The singers including Badri Pangeni, Yagyaraj Upadhyay, Rajaram Bhat, Gita Senchuri and others entertained the revelers.

Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Rawal said the original culture the far-western region protected for long has helped keep national unity.

Forum's Chairman and central member of the CPN-UML, Jhapat Bahadur Rawal, said such cultural programme of the particular region would be continued to foster love and harmony among the country people. RSS
