DIG Arjun Chand retires, 3 DIG positions vacant

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Arjun Chand of Nepal Police has retired. He reached the age limit of 56 for the position and retired on December 15. He had joined the police service on March 19, 1995, alongside IGP Basanta Kunwar.

KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Arjun Chand of Nepal Police has retired. He reached the age limit of 56 for the position and retired on December 15. He had joined the police service on March 19, 1995, alongside IGP Basanta Kunwar.


With the retirement of Chand, three DIG positions in the police have become vacant. DIGs Durga Singh and Bharat Bahadur Bohara have been recommended for promotion to Additional Inspector General (AIG). On December 13, the promotion committee recommended their promotion to AIG, leaving three DIG positions vacant in Nepal Police.

Before the decision on the promotion of Singh and Bohara by the Council of Ministers, police officials say that three Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) can be promoted to DIG.
