Delay in road expansion causes flash flood in Dharan

Flash flood is common in Dharan-3, Kailash Path, since the last monsoon.  This is caused by a clogged drain resulted when crushed-stones, sand, and stones abrupt the water flow.

Flash flood is common in Dharan-3, Kailash Path, since the last monsoon.  This is caused by a clogged drain  when crushed-stones, sand, and stones obstruct the water flow.

“It’s difficult to differentiate between river and road during a downpour,” exclaimed Lalita Shah, a local, adding, “Our condition is terrible during monsoon. Due to the clogged-drainage the water enters our houses.” 


According to the locals, construction materials obstruct the drainage and which result in the flooding, then the peeling of the black-topped roads.  Another local, Goma Tamrakar complained that the drain was covered and the slab was also flooded.
