At the program held at its central office at Beljhundi, Pro-chancellor of the University, Minister for Education, Ganga Lal Tuladhar gave away certificates to 331 students who graduated from the University.[break]
The 331 students were among the 4,087 students who graduated from the University between 2057 B.S. and 2066 B.S.
The convocation this year is being held after a gap of ten years.
At the program, Chancellor of National Sanskrit Institute of New Delhi, India, Prof. Dr Padha Ballav Tripathi had delivered the convocation speech.
On the occasion, Prof. Dr Tripathi called to incorporate modern and scientific thought to Sanskrit education and expressed the view that Sanskrit education could also help further strengthen relations between the two countries.
Co-chancellor and Education Minister Mr Tuladhar said the Government is working to bring timely changes to Sanskrit education and to develop Nepal as a centre of study and research of Sanskrit literature.
In his welcome speech, Vice-chancellor Bidur Prasad Poudel called for active involvement of all in order to change the negative attitude existing in the society towards Sanskrit education.
The Sanskrit University was founded in 2043 B.S. as the second University of the country. Currently there are 13 constituent colleges and 11 affiliated campuses under the University, providing classes in humanities, education, science, Ayurveda among others.
