KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Only one woman has been elected to the office-bearer panel of the CPN-UML. Padma Aryal was elected as secretary from the party’s 11th general convention.
According to the results announced on Thursday, Aryal secured 1,530 votes to win the post. She had also been elected secretary at the 10th general convention.

Three women had contested for positions among the UML’s 19-member office bearer panel. Dr Binda Pandey, who contested for the post of deputy general secretary and Pemba Lama, who ran for secretary, were defeated.
In the 10th general convention, two women had been elected as office bearers. Ashtalakshmi Shakya, who was elected vice-chair from the 2078 BS general convention, did not contest this time.
