Kathmandu, July 14: Government employees are disappointed as the government did not increase remuneration in the budget presented for the Fiscal Year 2015-16.

They had demanded at least 10 per cent hike in their pay.

Nepal Civil Servants Association President Punya Prasad Dhakal expressed concern that despite the inflation, pay of civil servants was not increased and this has downed the morale of the employees.

Likewise, Nepal Civil Service Employees Union (Association) Co Chair Shobhakar Regmi said earlier the Finance Minister announced to increase the salary of government employees from the meeting of the Finance Committee. But the government's decision to move back from its commitment has saddened the employees.

Trade union leaders have complained that the government failed to recognise the contribution of government employees to the rescue and relief efforts in the aftermath of the April 25 deadly earthquake. They have planned to hold a joint meeting of all the trade unions and unite to press the government to address their call. RSS
