BIRGUNJ, Jan 12: Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has claimed an improvement in the economic sector of the country. Speaking at the 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Finance Minister Khatiwada said the country's economic growth country in the current fiscal year 2019/2020 will maintain 5% to 8%. According to Khatiwada, complains from local areas are decreasing which is the sign of improvement. Khatiwada said that the media reports about the government increasing the target of collecting revenue rather than making development in economic area is not true and the government focuses on creating investment friendly revenue collection.

BIRGUNJ, Sept 19: The Indian customs office at Kolkata port has given 84.33% subsidy for Nepali cargo duty insurance. The office has a provision to charge the importers duty insurance equal to the risk on revenue while importing goods via India.
BIRGUNJ, Aug 27: When the dry port came into operation at Sirsiya of Birgunj in the Fiscal Year 2004/05 only 85 rakes with full cargoes entered Nepal in a year. The import rate of bulk cargo and bag cargo was zero. After one and a half decades of its operation, over 100 rakes enter Nepal every month.
BIRGUNJ, Aug 4: Birgunj Dry Port, the only dry port of Nepal that connects Kolkata, Haldiya and Visakhapatnam ports of India through rail-line, resumed operation on Saturday after remaining shut for two days.
