APF defeats PLA for football gold

MAHENDRANAGAR, March 4: Armed Police Force (APF) on Sunday won the title of women´s football with a 2-0 win over PLA Sports Club on the closing day of the Sixth National Games in Mahendranagar.



Pramila Rai of APF scored the first goal of the match in 107th minute after the regulation time ended in a goalless draw. Within two minutes, Deepa Adhikari added goal for APF to all but seal the match in extra time.



Earlier, Nepal Police Club edged past Central Region 1-0 in the third place play off to win bronze. Chandra Bhandari of NPC scored the winner in the 89 minute.



Wushu



South Asian Games bronze medalists Jharana Gurung and Elina Chaudhary won gold during the Sixth National Games in wushu on Sunday.

Gurung defeated Juni Rai of Eastern Region in the final of women´s 56 kg sansau to secure gold for Western Region. Meanwhile, Chaudhary of Far Western Region beat Chand Kumari Shrestha of Central Region in the final of women´s 52 kg sansau held at the covered hall of Mahendranagar.



Likewise, Hira Chaudhary (48 kg) of Far Western Region, Chahana Bomjon (60 kg) of PLA, Urmila Shrestha (65 kg) of Central Region and Tanuja Sundas (70 kg) of Eastern Region also won gold in women´s sansau.



In the men´s sansau, Ramesh Tamang of Central Region won gold in 80 kg category defeating Shyam Bin of PLA in the final.

Central Region finished first in wushu with 22 golds while PLA secured six golds to finish second. Western Region, Eastern Region, APF and Far Western Region all finished with two golds each.
