MAKWANPUR, Aug 3: According to the three-year data of Provincial Police Office, Hetauda, rape cases have increased by 63 per cent in the 10 districts of Province 3.
According to provincial police chief, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sher Bahadur Basnet, altogether 143 cases of rape were reported in fiscal year 2016/17 which increased to 192 in 2017/18 and eventually to 228 in fiscal year 2018/19.
Along with the increase in rape cases, crimes such as murder and drug trafficking have risen as per the data. Some 1,344 cases of domestic violence were reported in fiscal year 2016/17 which increased to 1,488 in 2017/18 and eventually to 1,567 in fiscal year 2018/19.

Likewise, a single case of child sexual abuse was reported in fiscal year 2017/18 which massively increased to 39 in 2018/19.
According to the data, 10 districts of the province show a rise in the crimes related to murder. Some 62 murder cases were reported in fiscal year 2016/17 which increased to 76 in 2017/18 and eventually to 106 in fiscal year 2018/19.
Likewise, 420 cases of organized crime were reported in fiscal year 2016/17 which decreased to 416 in 2017/18 and eventually increased to 541 in fiscal year 2018/19.
According to the data issued by the province 3 Police Office, there has been an increase in crimes related to drug trafficking as well. A total of 211 cases of drug trafficking were reported in fiscal year 2016/17 which increased to 268 in 2017/18 and eventually to 309 in fiscal year 2018/19.
Likewise, suicide rate has also increased with 713 cases of suicide reported in fiscal year 2016/17 which increased to 780 in 2017/18 and eventually to 823 in fiscal year 2018/19.
Out of the 10 districts of Province 3, Makwanpur has the highest crime record while Rasuwa has the lowest. According to the District Police Office, 258 cases of heinous crimes were reported in fiscal year 2018/19 in Makwanpur while only 11 cases were reported in Rasuwa.
Makwanpur also saw an increase in producing and selling of narcotics while Ramechhap has the lowest reports on narcotics.
