But they had to wait more than an hour for the committee meeting to start as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the chief invitee to the meeting, arrived only at 12 noon.
The lawmakers were quite angry over the prime minister's hour-long delay in showing up. Their anger soared when Oli left the meeting after just repeating the same rhetoric that ministers and other government officials have been paroting with regard to relief for quake victims who have been living in pathetic conditions for nine months now.
Oli spent hardly half-an-hour at the meeting and left the hall saying he had another important meeting with representatives from some international organizations.
"He had committed himself to giving us at least two hours for this meeting. But sadly, he couldn't do so," said Committee Chairman Rabindra Adhikari at the meeting.
Lawmaker Janaki Kumari Saud said,"It just goes to show how serious the prime minister is about such a grave issue."
Another lawmaker, Angtawa Sherpa, accused the prime minister of making jokes at public events about supplying essential goods while not giving time to a parliamentary committee where lawmakers want serious commitment from the head of government over a grave matter like providing relief to the quake victims.
