KATHMANDU, Dec 16: The CPN (Maoist Center) will select the leader of the parliamentary party (PP) only after the MPs elected through the proportional representation election system get their certificates. Although the MPs elected through both the first past the post (FPTP) and the proportional representation (PR) system have already been elected, the Maoist party will pick its PP leader only after the MPs elected through the PFR system receive their certificates.
61 MPs elected from Karnali
Shri Ram Dhakal, chief secretary of the Maoist party office, claimed that there was no dispute in the election of the leader of the parliamentary party as in other parties and that there was no rush to pick the PP leader as the elected MPs had not even received their official certificates. The Election Commission has prepared to provide the certificate of election to the MPs elected through the PR system on December 18.
He said that there is consensus within the Maoists that Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal will be elected as the PP leader of the party. “First, after the Election Commission provides the official certificates, we will select the PP leader,” he said, "There is no disagreement in our party regarding the selection of the PP leader." In the House of Representatives elections held on November 20, 18 MPs from the Maoist Center were elected through the FPTP system and 14 MPs through the PR system.
