KATHMANDU, April 10 : Kulman Ghising, who was removed from his position as the managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) four months before the end of his tenure, is currently engaging in discussions with people from various sectors and levels.

After his removal, Ghising knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court, but when the court did not rule in his favor, he held a press conference and announced that he would take some time to decide on his next steps. Most of the people have suggested him to join politics. In an interview with Nagarik's Dhanbal Rai, Ghising shared that while many have suggested he join politics, he has not yet made up his mind. Excerpts:

What are you doing these days?

I haven't been doing anything yet. I am still thinking about what to do next.

What are you considering? What thoughts are on your mind?

I am almost 55 years old now. I still have a few more years of active work ahead. I’m thinking about how to stay active and what kind of work I should get involved in. These days, I have got some free time.

How are you planning to move forward?

I haven't decided anything yet. But I am clear about the need to do something that will have a positive impact on society. Right now, I am meeting with people from various sectors. I will take some more time to decide my next steps.

Who are you meeting with?

I can’t say much right now. I have been meeting people from various walks of life. I can’t share details about who exactly I am meeting with.

There’s talk of you joining politics. Are you in talks with political figures?

I can’t say anything about specific individuals at this stage. But yes, I am in discussions. I haven't made any decisions yet.

Is it true that you are in talks with leaders like Pushpa Kamal Dahal?

No, it could be anyone. Yes, I am having discussions.

So, are we going to see you in politics soon?

Let’s not say that right now. It could happen, or it might not. As I’ve already said, I’m not in a position to say anything for sure. I haven’t made a decision yet. Please give me some time, and I’ll let you know. Maybe you can also suggest what would be the right path.

Many people are calling you a ‘national hero’ and seem to expect you to join politics. What do you think about this?

I must thank everyone for their support. However, just because someone is called a hero doesn't mean they must join politics.

So, is it 50-50 whether you will join politics or not?

Let’s say that for now. I will make the right decision at an appropriate time.
