On March 28, two people were killed in the pro-monarchy protest led by Prasai as the demonstrations turned violent in the Tinkune area in Kathmandu. The protest saw widespread vandalism, arson, and looting of government and private property.
Prasai had been absconding after the incident. He went missing soon after a video of his car trying to bulldoze police personnel aside in Tinkune went viral.
The absconding Prasai had released two video messages on social media claiming that he felt unsafe and was therefore 'hiding'. On Wednesday, he released another video saying that he had not run away but had to 'hide to survive'.
A team of the Special Bureau of Nepal Police was able to track him based on special information after reaching India.
Following the Tinkune incident, the police have taken RPP leaders Dhawal Shamsher Rana, Rabindra Mishra and others into custody and are investigating their involvement in the protest.
Nepal Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dinesh Kumar Acharya said that he has not received official information about Prasai's arrest.
