Rain obstructs Butwal-Narayanghat road

NAWALPARASI, April 10: Traffic on the Butwal-Narayanghat road section of the East-West Highway has been obstructed. The highway has been blocked at Daunne since the road section is muddy and slippery due to the overnight rain, according to police.


Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal from Nawalparasi District Police Office said the road has been obstructed due to rain at Daunne of Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2.


Hundreds of vehicles and passengers have been stranded on the road due to the road blockade. Vehicular movement in the Daunne area remains suspended from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm from Wednesday through Sunday.

Similarly, preparations have been made to stop vehicular movement from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am from April 14 to 28. 


Karnali highway blocked


The Surkhet-Humla road section of the Karnali Highway has been obstructed. The road has been obstructed due to a rain-triggered landslide at Bhattadi of Raskot Municipality-8 in Kalikot. 


According to the District Police Office, the landslide that occurred at Sisne of Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality-3 has been removed and traffic at this place has come into operation after the police, passengers and locals actively removed the landslide and debris.


Chief of the District Police Office, Tek Bahadur Rawat, said that the police, locals and excavators were working to clear the landslide and open the road. The road is expected to open later today.
