KATHMANDU, March 24: A woman died and nine others sustained injuries in a Hiace vehicle accident in Kathmandu on Sunday evening. The accident occurred at around 5 PM on Sunday in Nagdhunga area of Chandragiri Municipality-2.
According to police, the Hiace (Ga 1 Kha 5546), traveling from Chitwan to Kathmandu lost control at a slope in Nagdhunga. The vehicle, which was stopped there, moved on its own and crashed into the roadside barrier.

Police said that a woman aged around 25-26 years (identity not yet confirmed), succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Trauma Center at 5:55 PM. Police said that nine individuals have sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Among the injured, Tara Devi Kumal, 68, from Kalika Municipality-7, Chitwan is in critical condition and undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center.
The other injured include Bindhu Devkota, 33, from Chandragiri Municipality-15, Kathmandu; Dibyan Pokhrel, 30-month-old son of Bindhu Devkota; Anita Thapa, 40, from Bharatpur Municipality-6, Chitwan; Arisha Thapa, 17; Mohit Gurung, 37, from Bharatpur Municipality-4, Chitwan; Sima Kumal, 25, from Kalika Municipality-7, Chitwan; Ishan Kumal, 6 and Kusum Rai, 20 years old, from Solti Bazar, Sarlahi.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Rajesh Ghale Gurung, a resident of Belkotgadi Municipality-13, Nuwakot, is currently under police custody. The vehicle is under the control of the Nagdhunga Police Division.
The rescue team, led by Police Officer Surya Prakash Subedi, included 15 personnel. The police investigation into the accident is currently underway.
