KATHMANDU, March 23: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu commemorated Pakistan’s 85th National Day on Sunday with a flag-hoisting ceremony, the embassy said in a press release. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal Abrar H. Hashmi hoisted the national flag, while messages from Pakistan’s president, prime minister, and foreign minister were read out during the event.
According to the press statement, in his message, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized honoring the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding fathers and adhering to the principles of unity, faith, and discipline to strengthen national security and economic stability. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and global relations while expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.

Likewise, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the historical significance of March 23, recalling the Lahore Resolution of 1940, which led to the creation of Pakistan in 1947, the press release said. He praised the role of Pakistan’s armed forces in safeguarding national sovereignty.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar extended greetings to Pakistanis living abroad, acknowledging their contributions to the country. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s diplomatic and moral support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their pursuit of self-determination.
The embassy further stated that Ambassador Hashmi congratulated the Pakistani community in Nepal, urging them to remain engaged and contribute to strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Nepal.
