According to the Armed Police Force, Mahato jumped into the Seti gorge at Mahatgauda in Pokhara–17 on Sunday evening and went missing. A rescue team from the APF Disaster Management unit launched a search operation but was unable to locate him the same night.
Search efforts resumed the following morning, and his body was recovered around 9:45 am from a depth of nearly 250 feet in the gorge using rope rescue techniques.
Authorities said the body has been sent to Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences for post-mortem examination. Police noted that lack of safety fencing along the Seti gorge continues to contribute to repeated such incidents every year.
