KATHMANDU, April 16: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu hosted a reception in the capital on Tuesday to commemorate the 85th National Day of Pakistan.
In his remarks, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal Abrar H Hashmi, underlined the historical importance of Pakistan Day.
He paid tribute to Pakistan’s forefathers. “Pakistan stands with the international community in fulfilling its international obligations,” Hashmi said in his address.

Pakistan and Nepal have enjoyed cordial relations and developed strong bonds. He elaborated that Pakistan and Nepal share a unique tapestry from geography to civilizational linkages, from peaks of Himalayas to rich heritage, and cultural similarities unite the two people together. He hoped that building on existing agreements, mechanisms and collaboration in education, health, defense, climate change, disaster management will continue to bring synergies and closer ties in years ahead.
A photo exhibition under the theme “A Glance at Pakistan” was also held showcasing the diversity of Pakistan.
Vice President of Nepal, Dr. Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, attended the reception as Chief Guest. Also present at the reception were Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) and Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of Nepal Socialist Party and former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai, and Supreme Court Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla. Likewise, political, civic and business leaders, Kathmandu-based ambassadors, diplomats, Pakistani community and civil society representatives attended the event.
A Nepali Army band played tunes of national anthems of both the countries at the reception, as well as a few Pakistani songs captivating the audience.
