National Assembly approves Ordinance on Cooperatives

The National Assembly has approved the Ordinance to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Related to Cooperatives, 2081. In Sunday’s meeting, the assembly passed the proposal to consider the bill presented by Minister for Land Management, Cooperative, and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, by a majority vote.

KATHMANDU, March 23: The National Assembly has approved the Ordinance to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Related to Cooperatives, 2081. In Sunday’s meeting, the assembly passed the proposal to consider the bill presented by Minister for Land Management, Cooperative, and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, by a majority vote.


While responding to questions raised during the discussion on the proposal, Minister Adhikari explained that he introduced the bill to address the issues in the cooperative sector. “This bill will resolve urgent issues promptly,” he said.

Minister Adhikari emphasized that the government is committed to addressing the issues in the cooperative sector in a way that aligns with the desires and sentiments of the opposition, the general public, and stakeholders.


Members of Parliament Dr Beduram Bhusal, Kiran Babu Pun, Gangkumari Belbase, Indira Devi Gautam, Tul Prasad Bishwakarma, Yuvraj Sharma, Uday Bahadur Bohara, Manrupa Sharma, Tulsa Kumari Dahal, Jayanti Devi Rai, Shrikrishna Prasad Adhikari, Rukmini Koirala, Renu Chand, Rajendra Lakshmi Gaire, and Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achami participated in the discussion on the proposal on Sunday. 


National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal invited lawmakers to register their amendment proposals at the bill branch under the Assembly if they wish to propose amendments to the bill.
