Govt recommends president to issue five ordinances

The Cabinet meeting held on Friday decided to submit Ordinance to amend Some Nepal Acts related to Governance and Public Service Delivery (2081), Ordinance to amend Nepal Acts related to Economic Environment and Investment Promotion (2081), Ordinance to amend the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility (First Amendment, 2081), Ordinance to amend the Privatization Act (2050) and Ordinance to amend Some Nepal Acts related to Land (2081).

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The government has recommended President Ram Chandra Paudel to issue five ordinances.


The Cabinet meeting held on Friday decided to submit Ordinance to amend Some Nepal Acts related to Governance and Public Service Delivery (2081), Ordinance to amend Nepal Acts related to Economic Environment and Investment Promotion (2081), Ordinance to amend the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility (First Amendment, 2081), Ordinance to amend the Privatization Act (2050) and Ordinance to amend Some Nepal Acts related to Land (2081).


Government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, shared these decisions, also noting that the government has accepted a grant of Rs 1.63 billion from the World Bank for the ‘Forest for Prosperity Project.’

Other decisions include raising the Citizen Investment Fund’s paid-up capital to Rs 6.48 billion, setting the minimum support price for wheat at Rs 3,867.38 per quintal for the current fiscal year, and repealing several outdated directives.


The Cabinet meeting also decided to promote Patan High Court Judge Brajesh Pyakurel to the Law Chairperson of the Revenue Tribunal Kathmandu and Judge Bidur Koirala to a member of the Special Court Kathmandu. Additionally, 15 gazetted second class officers of the Nepal Judicial Service will be promoted to gazetted first class officers.


Other decisions include granting in-principle approval to amend and consolidate immigration laws, promoting police officers to higher ranks, and submitting several bills for parliamentary approval, including the amendment of the Nepal Citizenship Act and laws related to the Armed Police Force.


The meeting also appointed joint secretaries Baburam Adhikari and Madan Bhujel as chief secretaries for Lumbini and Madhesh provinces, respectively.
