Woman who jumped into Dhobikhola found dead

According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, police launched a search operation after receiving information that a woman, believed to be around 35 years old, had jumped into the river between Kalopul and Ratopul.

KATHMANDU, July 9: A woman who reportedly jumped into the Dhobikhola stream in Kathmandu on Thursday was later found dead, police said.



According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, police launched a search operation after receiving information that a woman, believed to be around 35 years old, had jumped into the river between Kalopul and Ratopul.


The woman, who was wearing a white T-shirt, a pink jacket and trousers, was later found dead on the bank of the Bagmati River below Kumari Club in Balkhu.

Police said legal formalities were underway at the scene before the body would be sent for post-mortem examination.


The identity of the deceased has yet to be established, and the reason behind the incident remains unknown. Police said further investigation is underway.
