2 injured in Janakpur police firing

JANAKPUR, Sept 1: At least two were injured when police open fire in a clash ensued between protestors and police personnel in Janakpur on Tuesday.

Jit Kumar Shah and Sujit Shah of Terai Madhesi Democratic Party were injured in the incident. Protestors were staging protest at Bhanu Chowk-Rail station region of the district around 10 am on Tuesday.


Sujit sustained head injuries while Jeet Bahadur was injured on chest. Meanwhile, seven protestors were injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at Janakpur Zonal hospital, police said.

Janakpur tense after protestors vandalize police office

Tension flared up at Janakpur after a group of protestors affiliated with Mahdesi Morcha vandalized railway station-based police station here in the district on Tuesday.

Around five hundred protestors had also tried to vandalize a Dhanusha-based custom office.


Police, however, foiled their bid to vandalize the custom office. Police has fired tear gas shells at the protesters as the protestors started pelting stones at the protestors.

Due to the clash, the situation from Bhanu Chowk to railway Chowk has remained extremely tense.
