Soldier injured in accidental self-firing incident

DOLPA, July 20: A Nepal Army soldier has been injured due to self accidental firing. 


Twenty two-year-old Dhruba Chand sustained injuries when he accidentally fired his rifle. The bullet has ripped his chin, mouth, lips and nose, medical surgeon at Dolpa District Hospital, Dr Anup Mangal Samal, said.

The Army immediately airlifted Chand to Kathmandu for further treatment at Dr Samal's referral. 


Chand cannot speak but can communicate by writing. Doctors have said his case is serious but treatment is possible. The Army has initiated an investigation into the incident. 


Chand from Dhangadhi, Kailali district, works at Ishwaribaks Company at Suligad which has been stationed for the protection of the Shey Phoksundo National Park. RSS
