KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The government of the Indian State of Gujrat on Thursday postponed the 10th Vibrant Gujrat Global Summit scheduled to be held from January 10 to January 12. Prime Minister She Bahadur Deuba was to travel to India to address the summit.
According to Economic Times (ET), the Gujrat Government took a decision to postpone the summit due to the rising cases of Omicron. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla will also hold a review meeting this evening over the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country, said the ET report quoting sources.

Prime Minister Deuba was scheduled to fly to India on Sunday for a four-day visit to India. He was to lead a 30-member delegation. Sources close to Prime Minister Deuba claimed that Deuba's visit to India this time will be cancelled.
India on Wednesday registered a single-day rise of 90,928 cases, a significant rise from the previous day's 58,097 Covid cases in a span of 24 hours. A total of 325 deaths were reported at the same time.
Meanwhile, the active caseload has jumped to 2,85,401 which constitutes 0.81 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The Omicron infection tally has climbed at 2,630 across the nation.
However, out of total Omicron positive cases, 995 have been discharged from hospitals. So far 26 states have reported Omicron cases, said the Union health ministry on Thursday. The recovery of 19,206 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,43,41,009, according to the report
