UDAYAPUR, Sept 16: Seventeen people, including the driver, were injured after a truck collided with a passenger Hiace microbus in Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality-7 of Udayapur on Wednesday morning.
Eight of the injured, who were in serious condition, were referred to Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar for further treatment. The remaining injured are receiving treatment at Udayapur District Hospital.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 10 am when a truck, Ba 7 Kha 3991, traveling from Katari toward Gaighat collided with a passenger microbus, Ba 4 Kha 5635, traveling in the opposite direction.

A 15-member police team deployed from the District Police Office, Udayapur, under the command of Police Inspector Bipesh Kumar Dev reached the site shortly after the accident and rescued the injured before taking them to hospital.
The injured include microbus driver Ram Bahadur BK, 44, and co-driver Debraj BK, 40, both residents of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-6, Morang.
Other injured passengers have been identified as Labin Chaulagain, 24, of Kanepokhari-6; Pabitra Bhattarai, 27, Jamuna Rai, 79, and Edu Chandra Rai, 41, of Sundarharaicha Municipality-7 and 6, respectively.
Those injured from Kathmandu include Indira Shrestha, 56, Rukmaya Shrestha, 48, and Pabina Shrestha, 53, all from Chandragiri Municipality-14, and Shanti Nyari, 43, of Budhanilkantha Municipality-5.
Other injured people are Rasmila Dahal, 42, of Triyuga Municipality-3, Udayapur; Dambar Bahadur BK, 31, and Sudip Rai, 20, of Belaka Municipality-6, Udayapur; Laxmi Giri, 21, of Nepalgunj Municipality-3, Banke; Sagun Gurung, 25, of Jogmai Municipality-1, Ilam; and Sanu Thapa, 40, of Kamalamai Municipality-1, Sindhuli.
Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.
