NC convention in 16 districts put off indefinitely amid rising cases of COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The district convention of the Nepali Congress under its 14th General Convention in various 16 districts has been put off indefinitely amid rising cases of COVID-19. The NC had earlier failed to hold the convention in these districts due to intra-party differences.


The NC's Central Election Committee in a press statement on Friday said that the district conventions of Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Sindhuli, Makawanpur, Sindhupalchok, Chitwan, Nawalpur, Banke, Kailali, and Achham districts have been put off for now amid worsening situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NC had scheduled district conventions in these districts for January 29. The party has decided to put off the conventions keeping in view of the health risk, according to the Secretary of the party’s Central Election Committee Keshav Rijal.
