The Week under the slogan "Let´s celebrate the World Breastfeeding Week Successfully, understanding the past, planning the future" has started from today till August 7.
According to Department of Health Services, Child Health Division, the Week started by organizing various awareness programmes related to breastfeeding in districts and awareness programmes are going to be organized to make people aware about the importance of breastfeeding, to increase number of breastfeeding women, among others, during the week.
Director at the Department of Health Services, Child Health Division, Dr. Shyamraj Upreti, said that the Week is being celebrated to make public aware about the importance of breastfeeding, to make aware about problems and to increase the number of breastfeeding women within one hour after giving birth to child.
The World Breastfeeding Day is being celebrated in the World including Nepal from 1992.
