RAUTAHAT, Feb 16: With the lull in the Madhes movement, ministers have started making their visits to Madhes, especially eight districts included in province number two. Environment Minister Bishendra Paswan and State Minister for Health and Population Mohammad Mustak Alam visited Rautahat district on Monday.

Minister Paswan met with local cadres and chiefs of district-level security bodies at the district headquarters. Likewise, State Minister Alam met his party caders and well-wishers in his village Rajpur Pharhadwa.

Both of the leaders visited the district after several months after they were appointed as ministers about four months ago.

According to Environment Minister Paswan, he is on a monitoring visit to different factories and business firms from Birgunj to Biratnagar to check if they have been complying with the environmental rules.

"I had termed the movement wrong in the past. Today this has been borne out by the visit to India and the conduct of the leaders of the Madhesi front," Paswan told Republica.

Minister of State for Health Alam said said his party joined the government to resolve the problems of Tarai Madhes. "As I am in the government, I am committed to having the Madhes demands addressed," he said.

Last Sunday, former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal also visited Chandranigahpur of Rautahat and met with local CPN-UML cadres and leaders.
