KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Shankar Pokharel, General Secretary of the CPN-UML, has stated that the current government will receive full support and cooperation from his party.
After inspecting the UML headquarters damaged by arson on Monday, Pokharel said that the UML will fully support the government as it takes steps to eliminate corruption and advance good governance. He also appealed to party workers to start rebuilding the party offices damaged across the country.
General Secretary Pokharel instructed party cadres to coordinate with government mechanisms to contribute to the reconstruction of public structures. He also announced that the UML will celebrate Constitution Day on 3 Ashoj amid the ashes and instructed party units to prepare for the event.

He said, “Constitution Day, which we obtained after a long struggle in 2072 BS, falls on 3 Ashoj. We will celebrate it amid the ashes. All districts will organize the program. In the Kathmandu Valley, it will be held in the premises of the party’s central office.”
Pokharel emphasized that since decisions are not always made on the streets, achievements gained through street movements must be institutionalized in the Constitution.
Pokharel expressed confidence that, as the current government is interim, its main task will focus on creating a secure environment and holding timely elections. He added, “We believe that all democratic parties in Nepal have entered a process to reach out to the people and seek their mandate.”
